Renowned photographer, James Balog, uses his camera to reveal how environmental change is affecting the lives of everyday Americans, following the four classical elements— air, earth, fire and water.
The video traces a coast-to-coast series of captivating stories that inspires us to reevaluate our relationship with the natural world. Balog visits Tangier Island in Chesapeake Bay, a fishing community facing the imminent reality of sea level rise threatening their future. We meet Yadira Sanchez and her three children in Denver, Colorado, all of whom suffer from asthma and attend a special school for children struggling with poor air quality. Balog entrenches with a Cal Fire strike team on the frontlines of the most expensive wildfire in California history. And he ventures deep into Kentucky coal country, meeting unemployed miners finding hope from a new source.
With compassion and heart, “The Human Element” tells an urgent story while giving inspiration for a more balanced relationship between humanity and nature. The videography is beautiful, creative and captivating.
