Music Director, Peace Dale Congregational Church
Reports to Senior Pastor
Part-Time
Salary $43,000-$50,000
Peace Dale Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, South Kingstown, Rhode Island seeks an experienced music director and organist for worship services and leadership of the church’s music program.
​
The Music Director is responsible for leading and growing the church’s music program in an active, growing, diverse community – to begin by late August 2025.
​
The director’s duties include:

Directing the volunteer Traditional and Contemporary/Praise Team choirs;

Conducting evening rehearsals each week, one for each choir;

Developing and leading a youth music program and musical instrument and vocal academy outreach program;

Providing guidance to the leader of the church’s Bell Choir as needed.
Other responsibilities:

Budget monitoring;

Working with the Senior Pastor to ensure the music fits the theme for each service that enhances the spiritual life of the church community;

Reporting to the Music Board and attending monthly board meetings;

Helping to manage the tuning, repair and overall maintenance program for the organ and baby grand piano in the sanctuary and other musical instruments in the church.
The candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in leading church music groups and organ and piano accompaniment in church worship services and/or other on-going musical experiences.

It is important that the candidate display musical proficiency in organ and piano, and the vocal ability and understanding of both traditional and contemporary church music. The successful candidate must have expertise in both hymnody and praise music. The successful candidate must demonstrate the skill to direct choir members of all skill levels and to teach new music effectively using proper vocal techniques.

PDCC is an Open and Affirming congregation of the UCC. Our sanctuary hosts a Möller organ and Ritmüller baby grand piano. The church is less than 15 minutes away from the University of Rhode Island and the nearby Rhode Island beaches.
