Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we having a campaign?

For over 160 years, PDCC has fulfilled its calling as an “apron-wearing community”—rolling up our sleeves, opening our doors, and showing up for our neighbors as well as providing a place for spiritual inspiration. Our aging building requires repairs that are vital to preserve a cherished landmark and to ensure PDCC remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant hub for ministry for generations to come. Additionally our much used kitchen that is the hub of the Dinner Table and Bistro ministries needs updating to bring it into code and to better support the many volunteers that make this ministry happen.  A refreshed Fellowship Hall will  provide a permanent hospitality serving area and needed storage space. This enhanced space will continue to serve as a hub for the community.

What are the details of the repairs needed and associated costs?

$20,000 Stain Glass Window repairs

$750,000 Kitchen and Fellowship Hall renovation

What is the goal of our campaign?

Our goal is to raise $2,000,000.

How can I support the campaign?

You can support the campaign by completing a Letter of Commitment. This form will be mailed to you or distributed in person during the campaign. The Letter of Commitment is your pledge to donate funds, including stock, retirement, or other funds. You can also contribute directly to Peace Dale Congregational Church , and indicate that it is part of the Fulfilling the Promise Capital Campaign.

When will I need to make my pledge?

Our goal is to receive Letters of Commitment from all supporters by December 13, 2026.

How do I make a pledge?

Please read the Ways to Give information in the packet you received or on the Church website: Peacedalechurch.org-campaign. You’ll return your Letter of Commitment prior to December 13, 2026, to indicate your campaign commitment.

How much time do I have to fulfill my commitment?

You can fulfill your commitment in one donation, or spread out your donations over the next three years to accommodate your budget. All commitments need to be fulfilled by December 13, 2028.

Is a Capital Campaign contribution separate from our regular, annual pledge?

We ask that your giving to the capital campaign be over and above your regular offerings. Our weekly offering funds the day-to-day operations of the church, including staff salaries, utilities, and our ongoing community ministries. Decreasing your regular giving to fund the campaign would inadvertently hurt our current ministries. We ask that you consider this pledge as a sacrificial, secondary gift.

Is my gift for the Capital Campaign tax deductible?

Peace Dale Congregational Church is a non-profit organization, so your gift is tax deductible.

What if my situation changes and I am unable to completely fulfill my commitment?

Should your situation change at any time, please contact the church office at 401-789-7313 and ask to have the campaign recording task lead, Patti Gross, call you to adjust your commitment as needed.

Who has access to the campaign giving records?

As with annual pledges, this information is considered confidential. Only those required to record or process the contributions will have access to these records.

What is the time frame for completion of the projects?

As funds become available, the projects defined in our campaign materials will be commenced with priorities agreed to by the church’s Executive Board and the Congregation.

Why do we need the UCC fundraising consultant and what is the cost?

The consultant, Jill White from Capital Campaign Services, UCC Church Building and Loan Fund, is helping to ensure that we achieve the optimal result from our campaign. She is guiding us in following best practices based on their extensive experience of success in working with other churches. In addition, the service’s vast array of resources and sample materials are available to us. The fee is 10 percent of our church’s annual pledges (not Capital Campaign pledges), and 30 percent of this will be donated to two non-profit organizations chosen by our church.

Will the church’s normal activities be disrupted during the project work?

During the kitchen renovation, the weekly cooking for Dinner Table and Bistro will take place at St. Francis of Assisi kitchen and meeting hall.  Other repairs should not disrupt normal church activities. Congregants will be informed if there are necessary disruptions and how long they may be.

What if we don’t reach our goal?

We have options if our goal is not met.  We can consider taking money from the Endowment fund, reduce the scope of the projects, and apply for grants to apply to the cost of the projects. In applying for grants it is especially important that we have demonstrated our support of these projects to the fullest extent possible.  Of course the congregation would be involved in making these decisions.
